R/C Aircraft > Park Flyer or Full-Scale Airplane?
|
For those of you interested in purchasing an R/C aircraft there are some things that you should know before you buy. We're going to answer a few questions and explain the differences between a park-flyer and a regular "full-scale" R/C aircraft. What is the difference between a park flyer and a full-scale R/C aircraft?Basically, it comes down to size versus speed. The heavier the aircraft, and the faster it goes, the more likely it is going to hurt somebody should it come down. Park Flyers are the class of airplane that it's safe to fly in your backyard or the local park. Full-Scale r/c aircraft must be taken to a regulated and sanctioned flying field. What brands of craft are good for me?This question is not so easy to answer. Your best bet is to contact us at the store directly to answer that question. Why would I buy one versus the other? The answer to that question is simple: It's a matter of personal choice. That choice can be made easier based on a few considerations. How much time are you really willing to devote to this hobby? If you're only able to devote a short time each week to thise hobby, then you should go with a park flyer. Simply because most of these planes are electric, they're easier to fly (due to simplified controls) and they don't usually require much of a wait as far as traffic getting into the air is concerned. If you're looking for a challenge, already have flown park flyers and wish to step up, or wish to have a hobby that can take up a good portion of your free time, the full-scale r/c aircraft would be the way to go. These craft usually require the control of 4 channels (control surfaces, i.e. Elevator, Aileron, Rudder and Throttle) which makes them an enjoyable challenge for both beginner and expert alike. |
